This forum will highlight the cutting edge social justice work of several leaders and organizations active in the Bay Area and beyond. The evening will combine a series of short, inspiring talks about new approaches and new actions in the local movement for social justice, time for Q&A, and time to connect with others working for social justice locally. Attendees will be invited to share thoughts on ways to create forums for continued collaboration within the local social justice community.

Arnoldo Garcia
National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights
is Program Director of the Immigrant Justice & Rights Program at the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and heads up HURRICANE: The Human Rights Immigrant Community Action Network. Arnoldo edits Network News, NNIRR’s newsmagazine, and represents NNIRR on the regional coordinators committee of the “Liberty & Justice for All Campaign” with the Washington, D.C.-based Rights Working Group.

Baybe Champ, the leader of the Scraper Bikes Movement, seeks to capture the creativity of youth liviing within dangerous communities. By providing them with a way to create their own transportation, Baybe Champ has been able to give youth a positive outlet that is fun, educational and creates healthy lifestyles.

Radio Host of daily KPFA Morning Show
Aimee Allison is the popular Bay Area radio host and producer of the daily KPFA Morning Show. She founded the innovative local media project OaklandSeen. In addition, Aimee hosted Comcast Newsmakers on CNN Headline News regional broadcasts. Her talk show covers a wide range of issues – from the economy at home to conflict abroad, and she features unlikely heroes bringing new ideas and connections to solve our problems.
